In recognition of National Hospital Week, May 10-16, 2026, Sauk Prairie Healthcare is highlighting the many ways healing happens here, including ways we impact the community--inside and beyond hospital walls.
“What makes Sauk Prairie Healthcare special is the people—inside our walls and across our communities,” said Shawn Lerch, Sauk Prairie Healthcare CEO. “The care we provide and the difference we make are possible because so many individuals and partners step up every day to support health, connection, and belonging.”
In FY 2024, Wisconsin hospitals provided over $2.2 billion in community benefits and charity care. In addition, Wisconsin hospitals employed over 134,000 Wisconsinites last year and rank among the top states in patient experience.
Over the past year, Sauk Prairie Healthcare has made a meaningful impact in the community through:
- A medical careers partnership with the Sauk Prairie School District. Over the next five years, Sauk Prairie Healthcare and Sauk Prairie Healthcare Foundation will provide funds to purchase equipment for the school district’s medical careers lab. The funds also include certification costs for students, as well as internships and apprenticeships at Sauk Prairie Healthcare.
- Innovative delivery of high-quality, affordable care through our collaboration with employers to manage their healthcare spend. As a result of these relationships, we were honored by The Alliance with their Healthcare Transformation Award.
- Continued designation as a Level III Trauma Care Center through the State of Wisconsin’s Trauma Program, reflecting the dedication of our emergency providers and leadership to delivering high-quality, timely emergency care to our patients.
- Recognition from leading healthcare quality organizations, including Top Performer status in the Wisconsin Hospital Association’s CheckPoint quality measures, Forbes Top Hospitals for 2026 and 5-star Safety ratings in Overall Quality and Patient Experience from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
These milestones reflect our ongoing commitment to improving lives—not just within our hospital walls, but across the community we’re proud to serve. Together, we are building a healthier, stronger community—because at Sauk Prairie Healthcare, healing happens here, and when hospitals are strong, communities thrive.
