Rural Health Award Granted to Ken Carlson

Sauk Prairie Healthcare is proud to announce that Ken Carlson, Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, has received the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative (RWHC) 2026 Rural Health Ambassador Award, recognizing individuals who go above and beyond to strengthen rural health and community partnerships.

Ken, who has served Sauk Prairie Healthcare for 26 years, including 17 years in his current role, was recognized for his outstanding leadership and commitment to improving the health of the communities Sauk Prairie Healthcare serves.

A few examples of Ken’s commitment to improving rural health include:

  • Leadership of Sauk Prairie Healthcare’s Community Health Needs Assessment, an important project that identifies specific health needs and resources in our area. This included conversations that address real barriers impacting rural health and quality of life such as access to healthcare, transportation, housing and childcare.
  • Partnering with area organizations such as school districts and health departments on opportunities that build connections and share information.
  • Creating Sauk Prairie Healthcare’s employer program, meeting with area businesses to streamline care opportunities for their employees.

“Ken is a true health ambassador—visible, collaborative, and relentlessly focused on improving health and well-being across the region we serve,” said Sauk Prairie Healthcare CEO Shawn Lerch.

Please join us in congratulating Ken on this well-deserved honor.
