Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital & Clinics is one of two organizations recognized as a 2012 Wisconsin Forward Award recipient at the Mastery level. Earning this recognition at the mastery level indicates that SPMHC demonstrates a well-deployed approach to quality, proven by results.
“Quality and patient safety is our top priority and it’s wonderful to be recognized for our hard work and continuous improvements,” said Larry Schroeder, SPMHC’s Chief Executive Officer.
The Wisconsin Forward Award program, based on the Baldrige National Quality Program, promotes significant achievements in continuous improvement and excellent performance—business practices that ensure the economic vitality of Wisconsin organizations and the communities they serve. To be considered for a Wisconsin Forward Award, SPMHC submitted to a rigorous comprehensive review process, including a multiple-day on-site visit with Wisconsin Forward Award examiners. The examiners determine if an award is warranted, and which level is appropriate. An award ceremony will be held in late fall.
“The Forward Award process is an opportunity for us to get feedback on our approach to quality improvement,” explained Carla Peck, SPMHC’s Vice President of Quality & Compliance. “The true value for us is having someone outside of our organization review what we are doing and tell us what they see as strengths and opportunities.”
Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital & Clinics is a not-for-profit, independent hospital in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin with four primary care clinics in the surrounding area. SPMHC’s excellent reputation for orthopedic, gynecologic and general surgery, combined with experienced primary care providers and 24/7 ER means patients have round-the-clock access to the area’s most skilled physicians. SPMHC’s new hospital campus in Prairie du Sac will open in 2014.
