Andrea Chao, MD --- She Helps Build Healthy Families

Dr. ChaoAndrea Chao, MD, pediatrician at Lodi Clinic, really cares about her patients. It's obvious when you talk with her.

"I want children to have quick access to healthcare," she says. "And I don't want parents to worry and lose sleep over their children's health-I like to get questions answered as soon as possible.

"Parents should be included in the decision-making process and feel comfortable with their options. If they want a second opinion, I support that."

Chao knew that she wanted to be a doctor when she was only four-years-old. She liked that the doctor made her feel better. Chao earned her medical degree in 1995 and worked in New Jersey and other Wisconsin cities before joining Sauk Prairie Healthcare in 2006.

"I have a good deal of experience working in large hospitals, including pediatric intensive care. I was also fortunate enough to have eight highly experienced pediatric mentors after residency. So when I came to Sauk Prairie, I knew what to look for. I was impressed with the personalized care," says Chao.

Chao helps families raise children in healthy, nutritious, positive environments. "I learned early on that you don't get anything from being negative," she says. Her practice includes a lot of educating, which comes natural. Her parents were teachers.

Family means the world to Chao. She spends a lot of time with her husband, Ed, and their four young children, but she still makes time to teach Sunday school. "I'm blessed, and I appreciate my community and patients. It's important to me that I give back." Chao says.
