Projects Across Several Communities Grant Recipients

Columbia County Health and Human Services – Car Seats for Kids:

Funds helped the county expand the free Car Seats for Kids. The program also educates parents and caregivers on how to properly install and use a child’s car seat and provides a free 3-in-1 car seat to those that qualify.

Ice Age Trail Alliance Inc. Saunters:

Funds were used to engage students in activities along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, helping educate them about the State of Wisconsin and develop healthy lifestyle habits to combat childhood obesity. Seven school districts participated in Saunters, the trail’s summer school program. The team at the Ice Age Trail Alliance also used some funding to develop a new app to help people engage more fully with the trail.

Sauk County Health Department Community Care Program – Dental Vouchers:

The grant supported Sauk County’s voucher program which provides acute health care services for individuals with no health or dental insurance.

Sauk County Health Department Building Happy Teeth/Healthy Bodies:

Funds provided evidence-based, equitable accessible early oral health education, preventative care and confidence in access to a permanent dental home to the 491 4K-2nd grade students at Bridges Elementary through the Seal-A-Smile program.

Mazomanie Charitable Alliance– Wisconsin Heights Community Garden:

Funds helped the garden organize a quality presentation with a knowledgeable speaker on gardening, and invited the community through fliers to the libraries, post offices, area businesses of Cross Plains, Black Earth and Mazomanie. Funds also supported publicity efforts such as Facebook groups such as “What’s Happening Mazomanie” and pages for Black Earth and Cross Plains.
