Jane Elmer - Plain

Board of Directors

Jane ElmerAs an educator and leader of non-profits, Jane brings passion, commitment and insight to the board.

Although Jane began her career as a high school English and speech teacher in the River Valley School District, she was ultimately attracted to public service and the non-profit world. She particularly enjoyed the development challenges at American Players Theatre. Jane spent the final 20 years of her career as the executive director of the Wisconsin Retired Educators’ Association, a statewide, non-union, non-partisan organization. In that role, she coordinated with many groups and agencies to protect and promote public education and senior concerns including pension security, accessible health care, and successful aging. She remains passionate about those issues.

Jane and her husband Bob originally moved to Plain for their jobs. It became home -- a great place to live, raise children, and eventually retire. Jane likes to support good causes with like-minded people, and she is honored to represent the Village of Plain on the board. She and Bob enjoy time with family and friends, rural living, the outdoors, traveling, music and theater. Her jewelry-making hobby taps into her creative side and has become a unique way to reconnect with old friends and make new ones.
