Carol Jefferson - Spring Green

Board of Directors

Carol JeffersonAs a seasoned healthcare fundraiser, Carol’s expertise is indispensable to the board.

After a successful career in fundraising Carol recently retired from American Players Theatre. Theater and the arts have long been a passion for her.

Carol graduated from UW with a focus on Consumer Science. Using her communication skills and love for making a difference in everything she tackles began an amazing 30-year career. It began with working for the Wisconsin Arts Board planning their 15th year celebration. The next challenge in her career took her to the UW Comprehensive Cancer Center and the UW Foundation where she worked closely with Dr. Paul Carbone. Working with Dr. Carbone was rewarding as they successfully increased funding for cancer research at the UW. During that time she was also a founding member and eventually became the President of the National Association of Cancer Center Development Directors. Their sole purpose was to work collaboratively with the other 30 comprehensive cancer centers - sharing information and success stories.

Next stop - the University of Iowa recruited Carol to develop a fundraising program for the Cancer Center. During her tenure she was an integral partner in the cancer center obtaining the coveted “Comprehensive” status which included an institution naming gift. The new name was the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. This was truly one of the milestones of her career.

Living in the driftless region with her husband David, gives Carol the opportunity to volunteer for causes that feed her soul and being asked to join the Sauk Prairie Healthcare Foundation is truly a cause she believes in.
